CPV Traffic is another name for popup or popunder traffic generated by browser extensions, toolbars, javascript injection, or javascript tags. It’s called CPV traffic instead of popup traffic because of the billing model used to sell the inventory. CPV or Pop traffic is traditionally sold by CPM, or a flat rate per every thousand pops or ‘impressions’. CPV simplified the understanding of the billing model by billing for every popup shown. This makes it easier to understand and bid on specific keywords or URLs and allowed for the introduction of specific keyword or URL bidding similar to how AdWords functions.
